How I Got My Web Site To PR 5 In 3 Months
August 12, 2008 9:52 pm SEOHow I Got My Web Site To PR 5 In 3 Months
Getting a new web site page ranked and indexed are two things everyone should take into account. With all the competing web sites out there the importance of this becomes a top priorty so that you can get free traffic and thus make money online. I started my Internet home business venture some 3 months ago and I didn’t have a clue as to how I would get visitors. It quickly became apparent that in order to get visitors for free that I would have to take certain steps. The following is what I did to get my site indexed and page ranked in 3 months, maybe my timing was right for the quarterly page rank by google but I did have to do some work to get there. 1. First off in order to get indexed quickly I suggest you put in a tiny classified ad at CraigsList.com, the site is a PR 8 and having a link to your site will get the search engines crawling all over yours. Make sure to only put one ad in and not to spam them because they will close your account. Also make sure to keep an eye on it, sometimes the administration cancels it or it expires. 2. Next I read an e-book call SEO Made Easy by Brad Callen(You can get a FREE copy on my web site listed below). Brad has some wonderful ideas and methods to get to the top of the search engines. I then implemented his ideas and methods. 3. Getting one way links back to your web site is key in getting Page Ranked. a) Article submission will get you one way links and having lots of them will get your site PRed. So how do you get a link to your site? Well in each article that is submitted you are allowed to put an “About the Author Box”, this is where you put your link to your site. Now some of you might find this very time consumming. Well so did I. What I did is got my articles ghost written from JustArticles.com and had them submitted to over 24,000+ publishers at Isnare.com, for about $70.00 US your can get 5 450-600 word ghost written articles from JustArticles.com and 5 distribution credits from Isnare.com which will distribute those 5 articles to the 24,000+ publishers. Now if you don’t want to spend the $70.00 on the articles and distribution you CAN do it for FREE. You can of course write your own articles and get article submission software from my website for FREE. But if you do have the money I suggest you do it this way because it is very time consumming. Its very important that you don’t submit more than one per week because getting too many links all at once will make the search engines unhappy. Continue to submit one per week for 3 months. b) Submitting your web site to one way link directories is the other method I used. Again this is time consuming so I bought a piece of software that does this for me. You still have to do it by hand but all the directories are already preloaded in the software. Go here for a copy of the software I’m using: http://www.directorysubmitter.com/ It costs about $97.00 for the software but I’m sure that you will think its money well spent after you see results. If you don’t have the money to do this then I guess you’ll have to do it the hard way and find the directories and submit by hand. c) Joining a well known forum is the last thing I did to get one way links to my site. You see most forums have what’s called a sig file. A sig file is a perminent signature to every post you make at the forum. I put in a link to my web site and that’s it. The only thing left to do is post topics or reply to ones already made. Again make sure you don’t spam the forum you join, this will only get your account closed. Make sure you have a relevant topic or reply and you will have no problems. By implementing these steps I achieved a Page Rank of 5 in 3 months, keep in mind that the search engines are always changing and finding new ways to rank pages. One thing I think will always be important is the amount of one way links back to your web site. I hope these methods will help you achieve your goals and make you money online, I know they have helped my Internet home business immensely.

Holistic Search Engine Optimization
We all have heard that search engines are the number one resource for consumers to research and buy products or services online. In fact, marketing studies have shown that over 70% of web surfers use search engines to locate online merchants. The ramification of this statistic is simple: if you want to reach the members of your target market you need to make sure that your business web site appears in popular search engines. Search engine optimization (SEO) can help you achieve this. SEO is a crucial online marketing technique. It helps you to get your web site to appear in search engine result pages (SERPs) for keywords that that are relevant to your business. For example, if you are a business coach, and someone is searching for “business coach”, it would be great for your business if your web site appears in the first 10 results. So what exactly is search engine optimization? SEO includes selecting the best keywords for the body of the page as well as other page elements (the title tag, keyword and description meta tags, etc.) Carefully chosen keywords provide “hints” that search engines use to classify your site and to determine whether your site should appear for certain search keywords. On-page keyword optimization by itself will help your rankings. However, holistic search engine optimization is required to achieve optimal results. For the best placement, focus on SEO as a whole, rather than concentrate on a particular technique. Here are a few important elements of holistic search engine optimization: - Have good content. After all, content is king (or queen, whichever the case may be). Without content there isn’t much of a site. The content must walk a fine line between providing useful content and including sufficient and relevant keywords for search engines. Often it is difficult to optimize your product or service pages for search engines, since the main goal of these items is to showcase the benefits of your offer. On the other hand, it is easier to optimize blog posts and articles. In fact, you can create entire articles and blog posts around keywords that are popular with your target market. - Have consistent navigation. Both your web site visitors and search engine spiders navigate your web site through links that connect different pages. Consistent navigation ensures that your visitors can reach every page on your web site from every other page. On top of that, you will you get the most out of your search engine optimization efforts. - Get links to your site. Links to your web site play a very important role in holistic search engine optimization. Many popular search engines evaluate your web site’s popularity based on counting the number of links that point to your site. The more popular your web site is, the better rankings it gets on search engines. The best links are links from reputable, quality web site that have complimentary or related content. You can get links to your web site by using a variety of techniques, such as writing articles, participating in link exchanges, and participating in online networking. Take a holistic approach to web site optimization. Apply SEO to your web site as a whole, and always evaluate the overall impact of your marketing efforts.

10 Steps To Top 10 Rankings In Google
Most webmasters go totally “gaga” for top 10 rankings in Google. And for good reason, Google is the most dominant search engine on the net and will deliver the largest amount of traffic. Even those webmasters who are fortunate enough to get No. 1 rankings for their keywords in all the three major search engines will tell you Google is the one that will deliver the majority of their traffic. Hands down. More importantly, those same webmasters will also inform you, getting top 10 rankings in Google often means your site will prove profitable. Mainly because obtaining targeted traffic is usually your first obstacle in creating a viable online business. In other words, if you get top ten listings in Google for good searchable keywords, it is almost impossible not to earn money. How To Proceed? First, you must know the rudimentary basics of how keywords work. Keywords and keyword phrases are the exact words someone types into a search engine to find what they’re looking for online. If you have a site on “dog training” then your goal is to get a top 10 ranking for the keywords “dog training”. Now if no one searches for “dog training” it would be a useless keyword, you would get no traffic no matter how perfectly your site is optimized for that keyword. How Do You Know If A Keyword Is Good? To find out, you have to do some keyword research on your particular keywords. Many professional online marketers use keyword research software like Brad Callen’s Keyword Elite. However, you can also use the keyword suggestion tools supplied by Google Adwords or Overture. Try here: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ Now if you check “dog training”, you will find it receives around 4,469 searches each day. That’s a lot of traffic but you must realize that it may be too good, or rather too competitive for your purposes, especially if have a new site. Biggest Mistake When Choosing Keywords The most common mistake most novice webmasters make is targeting keywords which are too competitive. You simply will not be able to compete or place for extremely competitive keywords. Well established sites and businesses with very deep pockets have the resources to completely dominate those keywords. While it is not entirely futile nor a waste of time to concentrate your efforts on highly competitive keywords, you will have better success if you target low to medium competitive keywords. Long Tail Keyword Marketing Besides online marketers have discovered that longer keyword phrases are usually the most lucrative. These phrases deliver traffic which is better targeted and more likely to convert into a sale. “Dog hunting training” which gets around 100 searches a day will be more targeted than the general term “dog training” and if you have a site devoted to training hunting dogs then this keyword phrase may convert better for you. Always keep this “Long Tail” keyword strategy in the back of your mind as you implement the following steps to achieve your own Top 10 Rankings in Google. 1. Make A Master Keyword List Your first step is to make a master list of the keywords you wish to target. Obviously these should be closely related to the theme of your site. As you can see from the example above, it is best to choose low to medium competitive keywords. Check the keyword competition by seeing how many sites are listed in Google for that keyword. Webmasters also check the Google PageRank of the sites that hold the top 10 positions. If all those sites are PR6 and above it may be hard to get ranked high for your keywords. 2. Choose Related Keywords Once you have your master list of keywords, find long tail related keywords to target. Again, check out the competition and daily searches made for each chosen keyword. 3. Use Quality Content For Your Keywords Creating quality content should always be your main goal. Write for actual visitors who will see and read your content. First and foremost you must have good useful content that your visitors will use themselves and recommend to their friends or colleagues. Tie this quality content in with your chosen keywords. Use one keyword phrase per page. 4. Use Keyword In Domain Name, Title And URLs Having your keyword in your domain name will score big points from search engines. Plus, each page of content should contain your keywords in the title & meta tags for that page. Most experts also suggest you have your keyword in the URL and use hyphens to separate your keywords. Although the author has gotten good results by using an underscore and htm in URLs. Example: www.yoursite.com/your_keyword.htm 5. Do On Page Optimization Keyword ratio is a much discussed topic by SEO experts and many suggest you should have your keyword in the H1 or headline title of your page. Sprinkle your keyword and variations of it throughout your page. Don’t over do it but make sure the robot/spiders will clearly discover what your page is about. Many webmasters make sure they include their main keyword in the first and last 25 words on their pages. 6. Use Traffic Modules One technique that works extremely well in Google is clustering a closely related topic or subject into a distinct separate section on your site. For example, if you have a marketing site, you could create a whole section on article marketing where you would have 50 to 100 keyworded pages all relating to your subject. Writing articles, formatting articles, submitting articles, article software… place a keyword linked menu on each page to connect all your pages together. Keep in mind, your main objective is to supply quality information to your visitors. One reason Google may favor this type of structure is because they want quality content returned in their SERPs. 7. Try Article Marketing Article marketing is writing short informative articles on keyword topics related to your sites. You then submit these helpful keyworded articles to ezine directories on the web, when your articles are picked up by related sites you receive quality One-Way links. The higher the quality of your article, the more links you will receive. Another ranking tactic to use, if you’re just starting out your site will probably have a low PR rank and you will find it hard to rank for even modest keywords. That’s why it’s useful to take advantage of the higher PageRank of the major ezine directories. Your keyworded articles on these high PR sites will get picked up by Google and displayed in the top 10 rankings. Now the displayed URL will be the article directory site but the links in the resource box will be pointing back to your site. Over time this article marketing technique will raise your own site’s rankings for those keywords. Simple but effective. 8. Anchor Text And One Way Links Off page optimization is important in obtaining high rankings in Google. Getting quality One-Way links is very important. Anchor Text simply refers to “the underlined clicked on words” in your links. Most webmasters include their keywords in their anchor text as this tells the search engines exactly what the links are about. 9. Tags, Blogging And Web 2.0 Take advantage of Web 2.0 by using blogs, RSS feeds and the social bookmarking sites like Reddit and Digg. Try AddThis.com for a simple social bookmarking system. At the very least your site should have a blog and RSS feed attached to it as this is an effective way of boosting your keyword rankings. Tags have become very important for getting higher rankings. Keep in mind, in free blogging software such as WordPress, categories will automatically be seen as tags. Blogger, which is owned by Google, now has a form where you put your keywords (tags) for each post you make. 10. PPC vs Organic Search Of course, one of the fastest ways to get your links displayed on Google is to pay for them by using Google Adwords. Your ad and links will sit side by side with the organic link results. In Pay Per Click advertising you bid or pay so much per click for your keywords and you only pay when someone clicks your links. But smart marketers also know since you’re getting millions of impressions advertising your products, acquiring name recognition and branding through PPC advertising can be a major side-benefit. However, most webmasters would say that organic links (SERPS) will return better traffic than paid links or advertising. In most cases, this may be true because Google’s organic rankings are becoming more respected and more trusted by users. They simply carry more weight with surfers. This makes it even more beneficial to obtain top 10 rankings for your keywords in Google. Depending on the competitiveness of your chosen keywords reaching the first page listing or even the favored number one spot is well within any webmaster’s reach. Just go for it. The rewards are well worth your efforts.

Pay Per Click Adwords - A sleeping giant? (PPC)
How do I get my site come up on google? Every day it seems someone asks me this question - for those up who know the answer it’s all very obvious and not so hard to understand but to your average internet user search engines are a total mystery. Terms like SEO SEM and PPC mean nothing to most people, less than nothing!
SEM (search engine marketing) is big business today. Mainstream companies new to online marketing are now directing considerable budgets normally reserved for other forms of media straight at PPC. This revolutionary business model delivers customers at a determinable cost unlike TV print or radio. PPC allows the user to control customer acquisition cost better than any other advertising platform, it also gives flexibility over geographical elements, delivery time & budget control, the ability to alter creative material instantly and directly compare results. PPC gives advertisers powerful reporting tools to track customer traffic patterns and spending habits.
This level of customization is not available with other forms of media and large business with large budgets are now starting to sit up and take notice of the trend to the online advertising model. PPC has little downside risk and an expanding audience that is growing more comfortable with online products and services, online revenues are growing rapidly across almost every market you can think of so at this stage we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. PPC is only going to get bigger and more effective.
Of the PPC options google by far represents the very best option in terms of exposure, the interface to google adwords is currently the very best around so they dominate the PPC world in a similar manner to organic search results. The google model encourages relevance for advertisers by assigning a quality score to pages advertised and matches them to chosen keywords. The google quality score has a direct impact on advertisers costs so this encourages relevant products matched to pages and keywords chosen for a particular advert. Creative text also plays a role with quality score as does on page optimization in a similar manner to organic search pages. In effect to get the best from an adwords campaign an advertiser needs to have completely optimized website and product or service pages. Good SEM companies will handle the total organic and PPC process taking the over the total SEO task.

Various Techniques of Search Engine Optimization
SEO techniques are effective procedures to put a website on the first page of search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN for your targeted keywords. These techniques directly help in raising the SERPs (search engine result positions) of the site, increase site traffic and acquire relevant quality links. If you want people to find your site via a search engine easily, the site will require a high SERP. This means when users search on specific keywords or phrases, they will find your site on the first page generated by the engine. Having the site on the 10th page of search engine results will not give you satisfactory traffic and you can potentially lose thousands of customers and sales. Let s discuss the techniques that can help you towards achieving a high SERP 1. Domain & File Names Select a domain name of your site that contains words from your main keyword phrase/query. The domain name should also be easy to spell and easy to remember. Ideally it should only contain alpha-numeric characters and no hyphens for optimum results. 2. Easy to think Keywords: Such keywords are to be used which are searched for in excess on the net. Add keyword synonyms to your content. Make sure you use your keywords from the page you are linking to. 3. Density of placing Keywords: Keyword density is related to the number of times the keyword appears in the text on a particular page. High keywords density is considered spamming by the search engine and can get your site blacklisted. Your keywords should be toward the top of your page and in either every paragraph or every second paragraph depending on your paragraph length. 4. Misuse of SEO Techniques: Misuse of search engine optimization techniques may get your site blacklisted from a search engine. Some techniques that are considered spam are cloaking, invisible text, tiny text, identical pages, doorway pages, refresh tags, link farms, filling comment tags with keyword phrases only, keyword phrases in the author tag, keyword density too high, mirror pages and mirror sites etc. These are all termed as Black Hat SEO techniques. While these techniques might work to give you a higher ranking for a short time, however in the long run they will slow down your progress and can have detrimental and very damaging consequences. 5. Construction of Titles and Description: Each page should have a different title with two or three of your keyword at the beginning. When search engine results are displayed the title is the first thing people observe and therefore enough time should be spent on constructing a fully optimized and well thought title. Your description should also have at least two or three of your keywords at the beginning as so should your first sentence on the page. There should be a different title, description and first sentence on each page. 6. Authors Biography: At the end of the page place an author biography or company name. This technique will help you to improve the branding of your site and get good rankings for your company name. 7. Website Design: In what way the website is designed is also important. Text content should balance the HTML text. The pages of the site should validate and be accessible in all browsers and from anywhere. 8. Links on the Site: There should always a navigation menu present on the site from where you link to all the important pages of the site. The idea is not trying to optimize the home page alone, but each and every page of the site. The secondary and tertiary pages of the site will only be recognized and indexed by the search engines if the spider can reach those pages. There should not a single broken link on any page of the site especially the index/home page. 9. Links to the Site: This involves ascertaining links that point to your site. The online world is not much different as compared to offline world. The celebrities in the real world are all famous and rich people i.e. have high SERPs. The reason they are famous is because so many people are familiar with them and know about their lives. The same principal applies to web-sties. The more the sites link to your site, the higher it will rank on search engines. This is an ongoing task and therefore a lot of effort should be spent in obtaining links from other sites. In an ideal world you should have all the sites linking to yours and your site not linking out at all. However this is not possible, but the idea should always be kept in mind when trying to acquire links. Also the quality of incoming link plays a big role in determining the overall benefit derived and its effect towards increasing the SERPs. The better the quality the better the result and so on so forth. These are some of the techniques, which if used effectively can directly help in increasing not only traffic, potential customers but also the rankings on all search engines. In the end it s not only about what you know but how you act. Hard work, dedication and patience is always a recipe for success, whether working online or offline.

Understanding Google and why they are at war?
Looking at search today it almost seems like google has lost focus on good search results. The ongoing war against SE spam has changed search technology to the extent that many legitimate webmasters are seeing their sites caught up by friendly fire. Although in saying this many of the webmasters that cry the loudest are the ones breaking the rules and pushing the boundaries. Google is smart and plenty of people like to take pot shots at the tall poppy of the search world but I would not want the responsibility of trying to manage and police the worlds biggest search tool. When you look at what they have to contend with in terms of spam in the form of scraper sites and massive amounts of duplicate content, throw in data storage and crawling on an ever increasing and uncharted scale and you are going to encounter many “issues” as you move forward. The KISS (keep it simple stupid) theory is no longer in play here, search technology is much more complex with new algorithms coming into play all the time.
Looking around at SEO forums you read all sorts of things about a google conspiracy and webmasters being forced to buy adwords because they simply can’t get the volume of traffic from organic search any more. What many webmasters are seeing today is pages drop from the google index on large scale and a constant shifting of the results across the different google data centers, also large numbers of supplemental results being reported for sites. Corresponding drops in traffic and very upset webmasters who are caught in the fallout, in some ways Google is the victim of it’s own dominance as are the many webmasters who catch a cold when google has a sneeze. Adwords is not the motive for the constant flux as has been suggested by a few, when you examine things adwords needs it’s network of partner sites to generate traffic in order to keep the revenues flowing and of course good search technology results play a major part in the cycle. I don’t think it is any more complex than that. Because google is so dominant it’s the greatest source of free traffic in the world, this makes them the biggest target in the world which in turn gives them the hardest job in the world. You can’t keep all of the people happy all of the time some blood is going to get spilled along the way. The biggest enemy of the webmaster is the other webmaster busy putting together a massive auto generated database driven spam site to flood the search engines.
Is google winning the battle here? The latest series of google updates would suggest to some extent yes they are making headway in some areas although as I write this there are some strange results being served up from a lot of the google data centers right now, we have been monitoring a few of the large spam sites and one or two seem to have resurfaced during the current data push. This I would expect to be only a temporary situation but it is a concern to see in some sectors that good sites fall out of the rankings and sites of lesser quality getting a reward even if it is only temporary. Google shoulders enormous responsibility and the question of accountability is an interesting subject, if google changes it’s algorithm and the whole search world turns upside down the effects can be far reaching and very damaging for online business, we are not talking about small numbers here. Of course some would argue there are winners and losers as the total number of searches remains about the same so if I am not getting clicks then some other business is? Maybe this is the case but with investment in infrastructure and stock and employees an online business needs to consider it’s reliance on organic search results and the revenue generated from this otherwise you might just be caught without a chair when the music stops.
What we tell our clients is simple, build clean sites for your users with original content - forget to a certain extent that a machine is going to crawl your site and make it people friendly. Clean sites, clean code with good intuitive link structure, good relative text this is very much a back to basics approach but it works and the search engines will reward you. Don’t fall for the “we can get you to number 1 in google” trap, it’s not a bad idea to stay away form anyone who makes this promise because not one can guarantee a search ranking. Use resources that benefit your users and don’t try to cheat or manipulate your position in the engines. Good online marketing and promotion will go along way. Look at all of your options for traffic generation and don’t put all of your eggs in the google basket!
